FAQ About DENTAL EMERGENCY

Clear answers to help you feel confident about your dental care.

Rinse your mouth gently with warm salt water to help reduce inflammation and keep the area clean. Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek in short intervals to ease swelling and discomfort. Over-the-counter pain relievers may help, but avoid chewing on the affected side and contact us for guidance as soon as possible.

You should go to the ER or call 911 if you experience severe or uncontrolled bleeding, swelling that affects your breathing, or signs of a serious infection such as fever or facial swelling. For most dental pain, broken teeth, or infections, it’s best to contact our office first so we can provide the right care quickly.

Handle the tooth carefully by the crown, avoiding the root. If possible, gently place it back into the socket without forcing it. If that’s not an option, keep it in milk or saliva to preserve it. Time is critical — try to reach our office within 30 minutes for the best chance of saving the tooth.

Rinse your mouth gently with warm water, then apply steady pressure using clean gauze or a cloth for about 10–15 minutes. A damp tea bag can also help slow bleeding due to its natural properties. If the bleeding continues or worsens, contact our office immediately for further care.

Most dental insurance plans provide some level of coverage for emergency care, depending on your specific benefits. Our team will help you understand your coverage and estimate any costs upfront. If needed, we also offer flexible payment and financing options to make care more accessible.
